Organisers
The local organizers are Professor Piotr Cap and Ms. Anna Ewa Wieczorek (conference secretary). Piotr Cap is the head of the Chair of Pragmatics at the University of Łódź. The Chair of Pragmatics is involved in scholarly and didactic activities reflecting the perception of pragmatics as a functional, i.e. cognitive, social and cultural, perspective on language and communication.
It organizes two international conference series, New Developments in Linguistic Pragmatics and, jointly with Warsaw University, Political Linguistics (http://pl.ils.uw.edu.pl/). It also publishes an internationally abstracted scientific journal, Łódź Papers in Pragmatics (http://www.versita.com/science/socialsciences/lpp) and has recently been involved in launching a new journal, International Review of Pragmatics, published by Brill (http://www.brill.nl/irp).
